About This Walk

The Munda Biddi Trail is the longest continuously marked off-road cycling trail in the world, stretching over 1,000 kilometres from Mundaring in the Perth Hills to Albany on the south coast. "Munda Biddi" means "path through the forest" in the Noongar language, and the Southern Forests section lives up to its name — winding through towering karri forests, loamy forest floors, and past pristine waterways.

Purpose-built overnight shelters are spaced approximately 40–60km apart along the trail, each providing sleeping bunks, rainwater tanks, and composting toilets. The Southern Forests section between Manjimup and Walpole is considered one of the most scenic, passing through continuous karri forest, with the Pemberton to Northcliffe section (around 43km) being a particular highlight.

You don't need to ride the whole trail — many visitors enjoy multi-day sections between towns. The trail caters to mountain bikes and gravel/touring bikes, and while mostly non-technical, some sections feature descents, rutted trails, and soft sandy patches. Daily distances on guided tours typically range from 10–55km.
