About This Walk

The Greenbushes township was named after the bright green bushes that contrast with the grey eucalyptus trees. Greenbushes abounds in natural and pioneering heritage, with many features of interest scattered throughout the forest surrounds of the township.

Starting from the Heritage Park, opposite the Greenbushes Discovery Centre, there are two parts to this trail. The first takes you to the Mine lookout overlooking the Talison Minerals Cornwall Pit. The lookout gives a birds-eye-view of the Greenbushes lithium operations.

The second route allows you to explore the history of tin mining in Greenbushes. The trail takes you through the forest with opportunity to view old mine shafts used from the 1900's to the 1940's. Miners used a variety of winch mechanisms and buckets to haul ore from as deep as 10 metres.
